5th World Championships, Taiwan UPDATE

When we planned the Championships for Taipei we wanted the pool at the Songshan Sports Center but it wasn’t finished, so we decided that the University Pool was the best available pool.  However,  the Songshan Sports Center pool has now been finished and we can use it.  It has a 50m pool, which can be split into 2 x 25m pools and also another 25m pool.  It has seating for more than 700. There are not many pictures currently available so to help you we have put a link to the Chinese language web site for the pool.  We are due to go to Taipei again in a couple of months and will post photos from that visit for you all to see.

5th World Championships, Taiwan

We had a meeting in Taipei a couple of weeks ago and the organisers are putting together the pack.  We hope that this will be out in July.  The details are that the event will be from the 1st (arrival day) to the 8th (departure day) of October 2010.  The venue is the University Pool in Taipei, Taiwan.  Seating capacity for the pool is approximately 700 so we don't anticipate any difficulties getting people in.  We will not be offering a Supporters Package this time.  Instead we will be telling people exactly where the pool is.   A list of suggested hotels will be given so folks can make their own choices depending on budgets etc.  The organisers will also be organising a local tourist company who will be able to advise on hotels, transport, tourist attractions etc.  The pool, opening and closing ceremonies will be ticketed so supporters can pre-book these.  We have received many comments from teams about the Gala Dinner. So to avoid the situation in Portugal where there were over 700 people and the teams were rather overawed we will only be inviting the teams to the Gala Dinner.  I am sure the supporters will appreciate that this is an event for the teams and we must ensure that the teams enjoy this.
