Dear  All

It’s been a long time since you have heard from us, but you can still count  on us  – working hard to keep the Down Syndrome Swimming alive.

2020 has been a very challenging year around the World – the Corona virus have not only had a massive impact on our everyday lives, it has also meant that a lot have had to say goodbye to their loved ones. Within DSISO we were very sad to learn that our previous president, Geoff Smedley passed away, as a victim of the virus – a valuable asset, a caring man and a great person. May he rest in peace. Our deepest thoughts goes out to all of you who lost a loved one this year.

In April we had to cancel the event of the year – the Trisome Games, our World Championship. Not being able to compete at the World Championship in Turkey was a great disappointment for all of us. Hopefully we are now looking forward into a new and promising year, where we gradually return a normal everyday life and hopefully to hard training, competitions and reunion.

Vaccination against this awful virus has just started, and as a doctor I will recommend you all to get vaccinated as soon as it will be possible in your country.

On behalf of the DSISO-board I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2021 – and for those of you not celebrating Christmas – a happy holiday

Arly Heide
President DSISO
