The 12th World Down Syndrome Swimming & Artistic Championships will take place in Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal from 30th October to 7th November 2026. Information document to be published in due course.

If a country is not entering a team to participate in the World Champs, swimmers from that country can participate as long as they have permission from the registered NSO.

ANNOUNCEMENT
At the gala dinner for the 8th Open European Down Syndrome Swimming Championships held on 1st November 2025 in Albufeira, Portugal, DSISO President, Lizzie Vogel announced the exciting news — the 12th World Down Syndrome Swimming & Artistic Championships will take place in Portugal next year! While the exact venue and dates are still to be confirmed, we know it will take place in late October or early November 2026. This will be a short course event.
These DSISO World Championships are our “Olympics” — a global stage created exclusively for swimmers with Down syndrome to showcase their talent, dedication, and passion for the sport. Countries start preparing to attend this prestigious event.
